Our Purpose
The Islamorada Charter boat association is a 501-c-3 organization whose mission statement is to promote the charter boat business and the welfare of association members. To promote and support any and all legislation that enhances the goals of the charter boat and related businesses. To encourage and support the conservation of fisheries locally and throughout the world. To support the safe-boating standards set forth by the US Coast Guard.
The charter boat industry engages in fun for the whole family. We bring people to the Keys that stay in our hotels, eat at local restaurants, shop at local businesses and some even move here buying homes, vehicles and boats!
We help local captains who are in need. After hurricane Irma we helped many of our local captains and their families so that they could pay their bills and remain here in the keys. We help captains who have major health issues by paying their bills and helping them get back on their feet.
We are the Keys Kids Fishing Derby. This is a free event that is for Keys kids ages 0-10. An amazing event that has over 125 kids every year fishing from the dock at the Lorelei, in the backcountry and offshore.
Our primary fundraiser is the Islamorada Sailfish Tournament. For 61 years this event has brought anglers and their families to the Keys from all over the world. This event is held the weekend after Thanksgiving and brings people to our area at a normally slow time of year.
We work with the National Marine Sanctuary, National Marine Fisheries, Florida Wildlife Commission, along with state and local organizations to keep our fisheries sustainable for future generations. We support all branches of law enforcement on our waters.
Our scholarship program helps to put local kids through college. We also support the marine science programs in our local schools, and local charities that support our environment.
